Newburyport car meet (9/14/24)

This morning I went to a small enthusiast car meet in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Most of my experience with meets like this has been at Katie’s Cars and Coffee in northern Virginia, which attracts everything from new McLarens to a group of second generation Toyota MR2s to ’60s Mustangs, with the newer cars dominating the numbers.

Notwithstanding a Honda S2000, a Volvo V70R, and a couple other newer models (including my 2020 GTI!), the Newburyport meet this morning — today was my first time there — seems to draw older folks and their classic cars almost exclusively.

Although I mainly follow cars from the ’80s and later, I also find something special about Malibu-platform and other General Motors (and Chrysler, although few were present today) cars from the ’70s and earlier. You can see that reflected in the photos below, which I took in part as practice after a long, long time of not practicing.

Please also note the exceptionally unusual Sunbeam Tiger. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in person before.
